This is why I'm doing it….
When I committed to making the 7in7 happen I knew I’d find the training and fundraising very rewarding – and they sure have been. But what I hadn’t reckoned on was the amazing support that would come my way from total strangers, many of whom have crossed paths with leukaemia at some point in their lives. These messages are fast becoming the biggest reward of all, leaving me with a feeling of “hey, this really matters; I really can make a difference”. The latest such example arrived in my Inbox yesterday. I thought I’d share it…..
Hey Mal,
I heard about your mission on the radio and had to come check out your site… Wow you are amazing and I just want to say a huge Thankyou. I have had Chronic Myeloid Luekemia since 2001, been in remission since 2003, and as long as I keep taking my wonderful drug Gleevac will continue to be so.
I feel very sad at the loss of your brother and wish all these amazing drugs could have come earlier and saved so many other people. I wish you well in your venture and will definitely be doing my bit to raise support in any way I can.
Thanks to all who have sent messages of support – you are many, and you are all hugely appreciated.
