Hunua Heaven

Happiness is.... the finish line!

On Friday I picked up our BaseJumper Overland Camping Vehicle from the good folk at RoadCraft – and this weekend we’ve been putting it through its paces. Last night was our first overnighter in it – in the Hunua Ranges – and a very comfortable success it was.

Wife Sally and I were snug in our bed until awoken at 6am by the Total Sport team arriving to set up for the 2nd XTerra off-road race. And what a great course they had for us – 22kms of 80% single-track heaven – gnarly, slippy, but fantastic. With another few weeks of solid training under my belt the body felt good and lasted a steady pace well. Strength and endurance have definitely built, and speed….. well, I never did have that! Overall very happy with 4th place out of 12 Masters Men on the super-long course.

Another big mileage week planned, so it’s off to bed now…. good night!
