This fella would have been right at home in the Waitakeres today.
Another Wednesday another long run. After the deluge of rain over the past couple of days this was never going to be a dry one, but it turned out to be a total mudfest. I chose a circuit in the southern Waitakeres that I hadn’t done for years, and I’d forgotten just how gnarly and muddy it could be. What was track and what was stream was anyone’s guess most of the time. And what happened to the Nihotopu Ridge Track? Half way up the hill it dissapeared under a pile of windfall, never to emerge, and forced a change of plan that included a short road run at the end. Nearly 4 hours of honest graft and only 22kms to show for it in the training diary. Maybe road running is not so bad after all!
