Smash & Grab

The window of opportunity..... at least that's how the thieves saw it

The window of opportunity..... at least that's how the thieves saw it

First thing this morning I took a gentle spin around my local park to check on the niggly hamstring. It was a little sore but not too bad. Still, I decided today’s long run needed to be a very gentle affair and allow for a bail-out option if things got ugly. The plan was a figure-eight course incorporating 2 x 3hr loops, returning to the car at the half way point just in case. Great day for it and the hamstring improved over the course of the first 3 hours, spent on coast and bush tracks around Piha. Felt good enough to push on BUT on arriving at the half way point I found the rear window of my car smashed and the contents strewn all over the ground! Fortunately most of my gear is too old and smelly to interest thieves, but a brand new pair of Nike running shoes and a bottle of Mizone Rapid had vanished. Nothing for it but to cut the run short and head back to town for repairs. If anybody tries to flog you a pair of Nike Structure 12′s in the pub over the next few days please let me know!

I know how you feel on this, it happened to me as well just like your situation.
It feels a real shock to find this when it happens, unlike you all my precious gear was taken, leaving wierdly my money and credit cards.

Lesson to be learnt her Mal, always park in a busy area neighbour hood even it means walking to the start or even cycling and hiding the bike in the bushes.
i have an old bike just for this senario, its good to get on the bike after a long run as then you cycle out the latic acid out of your legs. I always feel better for it and recover quicker the next day instead of being stiff and sore.

Hope you are insured, the money out of insurance is good though and so you can buy the gear again, always replacable

    take care
    Jane
