Smell the roses, drink the coffee

With still 5 months to go before the start of the Challenge I am determined to keep training as relaxed and fun as possible – to “smell the roses”, enjoy the views, take a few photos, even stop for the odd coffee. Today was a great day for all of these. I set off while it was still dark to do a run I have thought about for years, but never before attempted – the V6 as I have dubbed it – from home in Westmere, up & over 6 volcanoes (Mt. Albert, Big King, One Tree Hill, Mt.St. John, Mt.Hobson and Mt.Eden) then down through the Domain, cut through the city centre to the Viaduct and home via Westhaven marina.

At 38kms it’s the longest urban run I’ve ever done, but what a cracker! For those of you who are into it I have mapped it out on MapMyRun and you can view it here.
