Biggest week yet

Yesterday marked the end of Phase 1 of my training, with the odometer stopping at just over 1,200kms. I finished it with a long (5hrs15) run around Karekare, Piha and west coast – and just for once it didn’t rain! This concluded my biggest week yet – a week in which I knocked out almost 130kms (>100kms off-road). I can now look forward to a 2-week taper before I run in the Sunrise to Sunset mountain marathon in Mongolia. Then it’ll be back to winter running and some really serious mileage as the build up continues. Hard to believe that this time next week I’ll be exploring the unknown delights of Ulaan Batar…. an adventure I have been planning for many years.
