New Xtreme Sport Discovered

We have finally arrived in Mongolia after a long flight to Beijing, 20 hours holed up in an airport hotel and another short flight to Ulaan Bataar. It’s an impressive and extraordinary place to fly into and a massive contrast to the glitz and glamour of the new, hugely impressive Beijing airport. Having been starved of fresh air for so long we dumped our bags in the hotel and walked downtown to check out the attractions of UB. It took only 5 minutes to discover this great new Xtreme sport – J Walking in Ulaan Bataar – it makes all that sissy double-somersault 360 stuff on skis look like Xtreme kindergarten. But wait, there’s more, we then discovered an even more dangerous new pastime – crossing the street in UB legally! I suspect the locals get extra points for taking out tourists, so if you want to max the thrill wave a copy of Lonely Planet at the oncoming windscreen. Warning – this sport is not for people with, or recently recovering from, a dose of diarrhoea.

APOLOGY: I am technically challenged trying to link up my camera to the hotel’s computer so for time being no photo images can be included with these blogs – normal service will hopefully be resumed soon.
