Cross-training, Theft and Redemption

Well, it’s been quite an eventful few days. Last Friday we came down to Wanaka to enjoy a few days cross-training (oh okay, fun skiing) with friends. Two great days at Coronet Peak and Cardrona. But the fun was cut short when we got a call to tell us our house had been burgled and the buggers had made off with a ton of stuff, using our own cars as getaway vehicles – mine has since been found written off and Sal’s is still at large.

After 24 hours of battling anger and frustration I decided it was time to blow it all away with a long run, so headed off this afternoon for a 33km blast along the Minaret Burn track – an achingly beautiful trail along the western shores of Lake Wanaka. It worked well, as did the dip in the icy lake at the end. I’m now numbed to all pain, physical and emotional!

Terrible to hear this news Mal – what a bunch of scumbags.
Try and enjoy the rest of your Wanaka sojourn.

How unbelievably awful for you – so sorry to hear this. Glad you got to run in such a beautiful place to work off some of the frustrations….
