My Number 1 Supporter

Mon13She won’t necessarily thank me for it, but I thought it was time I publicly recognised the support and tolerance of my amazing wife Sally. Back in December last year Sal gave me a copy of Dean Karnaze’s 50 marathons in 50 days book, with a note attached saying “For Information Only – don’t get any ideas!” But it was too late - I had already conceived the idea of 7in7 and had to confess all! Since that day more than 10 months ago the Challenge has gradually consumed my life, and at times I’m sure Sal must have wished for a ‘husband more ordinary’. But despite the neglected household chores, the endless “I’ve had another idea” rants and the sleepless nights, she has remained supportive. Now as the day of reckoning draws closer Sal is getting more and more involved with the organisation of things.  She’s so capable, so unquestioningly optimistic and so unwavering in her enthusiasm for this crazy adventure. Soon she’ll be climbing behind the wheel of the Roadcraft support van, driving from one end of the country to the other, and putting in huge days of hard work to keep the Challenge on track. I am a lucky man indeed. Thanks Sal.

You are both lucky since you feed off one another’s inspiration and support. That is what partnership is all about. Wish we could be there in person for the event but rest assured that we will be there in spirit. Stay healthy.
