Day 7: The Kepler Challenge
Saturday December 4th
Start and Finish: The control gates, Lake Te Anau
Distance: 60 kms
Ascent: About 1,600m total – most of which is in the first 2 1/2 hours.
Terrain: Good quality tramping track but it has the most massive uphill and downhill sections to wreck the legs.
Rating: Very Hard. This is another day that is made tough by its length rather than the terrain. It’s tougher still when run at race pace!
Chosen because: this is where the inaugural 7in7 Challenge finished and it was such a special finale that we just have to do it all again! Everything – the race atmosphere, the people, the camaraderie, the scenery and the party – makes for a perfect finish to an epic week of running in paradise.
Notes: This can only be run as part of the Kepler Challenge race. If you want to join in this leg you will need to enter the race. WARNING: Entries open at 6.30am on Saturday July 3rd and will sell out within minutes – you snooze you lose!
