Fantastic breaking news…. multiple Coast to Coast Champion and endurance athlete extraordinaire, Richard Ussher, has committed to joining the 7in7 Challenge 2010 on Day Two of the event - the awesome run around the Young-Wilkin circuit in Mt. Aspiring National Park.
Richard is well known and respected both here in NZ and overseas. Although he has precious little time off between multisport, ironman and adventure races, he has somehow found enough to support our cause. I reckon this speaks volumes about the generosity of spirit that is so typical of this very popular athlete – so huge thanks Richard.
It’ll be interesting to see how he handles the pace of a 7in7 run – can he actually go that slowly? Or will he need to climb a few trees and abseil down a few rock faces to keep himself busy while the rest of us catch up? Of course, I’m yet to tell him about the pack-carrying duties I have lined up for him, so there’s hope yet!
But joking aside, I am feeling really privileged to have someone of Richard’s standing accompanying us and embracing the spirit of the Challenge. Yeeha, I can’t wait!
